        Dickinson is currently looking for an Adult Habilitation Center Worker to join our team. Direct service employees provide services to adults with developmental disabilities who live in community settings which include families, group homes, and Lifesharing. Based upon the principles of normalization and everyday lives, individuals are presented with opportunities to gain and enhance life experiences. Services consist of supervision, training, and support in general areas of self-care, communication, community participation, and socialization. Areas of emphasis include: therapeutic activities, fine and gross motor development, mobility, personal adjustment, use of community resources, and relationship development. These activities are designed to promote independence while allowing each person to accomplish everyday tasks in order that they may live a quality life. There is a minimum of 1:6 staff ratio maintained at all times. The day is structured to include individual and group activities.         Located at the DCI Restoration Center, Long-Term Structured Residence (LTSR) is a 16-bed residential facility which will provide mental health services for adult males with current forensic involvement. This will be one of 7 facilities of its type across the state of Pennsylvania, and it will serve 9 rural Northwest PA counties.

        Qualifications:

        • Bachelor's Degree in a health service-related field preferred, OR
        • High School diploma with 6 months of mental health training or experience, OR
        • High School diploma and minimum of 12 credit hours of college education in human services related field
        • Experience in behavioral health preferred
        • Experience in residential, corrections, or hospital setting considered
        • Experience in psychiatric rehabilitation services, certified peer support services, substance abuse services, forensic services, and/or crisis intervention services considered.

        Certifications and Licenses:

        • Valid driver's license.
        • Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner (CPRP) or Certified Peer Support Professional (CPS) preferred.

        POSITION SUMMARY

        The Residential Program Worker (RPW) provides direct care within the Community Residential Program. This program provides residential services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Elk and Potter Counties. The RPW provides daily individualized care to each consumer while encouraging independence, respecting personal preferences, and ensuring their health and welfare.

        This position is a full-time, 40-hour/wk position and some non-traditional work hours.

        POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

        Education

        • High School diploma or GED preferred

        Experience

        1. Age 18 or older by the completion of new hire training and orientation.

        2. Ability and willingness to learn new skills involving working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
