SUMMARY

A certified parent educator implements the PAT model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being in their work with families. Utilizing the PAT Foundational Curricula in culturally sensitive ways, the parent educator partners, facilitates, and reflects with families. This position is also responsible for facilitating and coordinating activities at the Children's Center. The Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) provides a curriculum for parents of children ages 0-16.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree required in Education or related Human Service field.
  • A minimum of one year of previous supervised work experience with young children and/or parents.

Certifications & Licenses

  • Certification in the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation must obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Certification in Parents as Teachers Foundational 2 within or must obtain within 120 days of employment.
  • The parent educator must complete the Parents as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Trainings before delivering PAT services.
  • Ability to receive training in the 0-12 and Teen Positive Parenting Program (Triple P) curriculum within six months of employment.
  • Have reliable transportation, as the job requires use of employee's personal vehicle.
  • Possess a current and valid driver's license issued by state of residence and be able to operate an agency and/or personal vehicle safely during various weather patterns whether it be daytime or after dark.
  • Be at least 21 years of age and have a driving record that meets the requirements of the DCI Vehicle Fleet Policy.
